Jeans for Kids

Kids’ jeans aren’t the boring farm work garment of the past. Contemporary jeans offer a staggering array of style and fit options. Many are stylish enough to be accepted as dressy wear.

Fit options include cut variations. Regular jeans conform to the child’s body. Relaxed-cut is baggier, which has been very popular with kids over the past several years. The legs are typically available in straight- and boot-cut styles. Waistbands on younger kid’s jeans are often elasticized for convenience and comfort.

Modern shoppers might be surprised at the embellishments lavished on children’s jeans. Appliques, sequins, embroidery, and contrasting fabric elements adorn kids’ denim garments. For girls, there is the option of the jean skirt or dress. For both genders, there are denim jackets.

The biggest challenge to buying jeans for a child is selecting the proper size. Children’s jeans run from 0-3 months for infants to XL for boys and girls. A girl’s XL is 16; for boys an XL is size 20.

Always give a child room to grow. Opt for an inseam that is slightly longer than the inseam measurement. It is still fashionable to roll up a pair of jeans to extend the life of the garment.
